HAZWOPER: Hazcom Standard/GHS Update for Managers

On March of 2012, OSHA modified the Hazard Communication Standard (HCS) to adopt the Globally Harmonized System (GHS) to improve safety and health of workers through more effective communications on chemical hazards. Worker Hazcom training must be conducted by December 31, 2013 so that workers can recognize and understand the new labels, pictograms, new hazard statements and precautions on the SDS. Manager Level Course (8hrs): • Hazard Classification – how chemicals are classified into the new health & physical hazards and classification responsibilities of clinical producers • Labels – what must be on workplace and supplier labels including new pictograms, hazard statements, and precautionary statements • Safety Data Sheets – requirements & use of the new 16-part SDS • What must be in your written GHS Hazcom program • Training requirements & deadlines Class starts at 8am.
