Policies & Procedures

RESERVATIONS: Class sizes are limited. Reservations are taken on a "first come, first served" basis, and are confirmed when registration with prepayment is received at least 5 days in advance of class. No confirmation of registration will be made unless requested. NOTE: There is no guarantee of admission to any class for which reservation with pre-payment has not been made.

REGISTRATION & FEES: All tuition fees are due prior to the beginning of class. A completed registration form with check or money order can be mailed in advance. Registrations may be faxed or e-mailed and payment brought when checking in for the first day of class.

Companies must be approved to use invoicing, and reservations must be accompanied by a signed company purchase order. All invoices are payable within 30 days. A 1½% per month finance charge will be added after 30 days. Admission and/or certification may be denied until all fees are paid in full.

Use of personal checks may require that certification papers be held for seven days after completion of the class.  Please inquire about this at time of admission.  There is a $25.00 charge for all returned checks.

WHAT TO BRING: Participants will be provided a course manual and other appropriate handouts. You are encouraged to bring "highlighters" and calculators.

CANCELLATIONS AND REFUNDS: Cancellations with 3 days prior notice may receive an 80% refund. After that time, no refund will be allowed.  Substitutions may possibly be allowed on a discretionary basis and must be scheduled within 6 months of the originally scheduled course. After 6 months, no substitutions or refunds will be allowed.  GEBCO reserves the right to cancel courses and refund the tuition in full. GEBCO will not be responsible for any losses incurred due to airline or hotel cancellations.
CANCELACIONES Y REEMBOLSOS:

COURSE SCHEDULE: GEBCO'S course schedule is published twice a year, for January to June and July to December.  It is prepared two months in advance and posted on our website.  It is also e-mailed to all previous companies and students who have provided us an e-mail address.

SCHEDULE CHANGES: GEBCO uses its website to post changes, postponements, and additions to the schedule. Every effort is made to notify pre-registrants by phone if changes are anticipated.   While we attempt to send e-mail notices to all who have provided us with their e-mail addresses, we encourage you to check the schedule often for updates.

WEATHER ADVISORY INFORMATION:  Due to regulatory requirements that students attend specified class hours to be eligible for successful completion of courses, GEBCO is most reluctant to cancel classes due to weather conditions, and generally will hold classes even though other local schools and colleges may close.  Students should assume our scheduled classes will be held.  A two-hour late arrival in a severe situation is acceptable, and can generally be made up during lunch time.  Missing more time than that will likely make students ineligible for certification, and require that they re-schedule for the next scheduled course.
Assuming that we will be open, we will not normally post a weather advisory.  Should an unprecedented, catastrophic situation occur, please check our website where pertinent information may be posted.

CLASS TIMES AND ATTENDANCE: All classes are normally scheduled between the hours of 8AM and 5PM. Check the course schedule for specific registration time. Participants absent from more than 10% of class time will not be eligible to take the exam or complete the course.

CERTIFICATION/CEU'S/ABIH POINTS: Most courses conclude with a course exam requiring a 70% passing grade. In case of an exam failure, a re-take is available at a cost of $50.00, but a second failure will necessitate repeating the course.
Certificates are awarded for successful completion. CEU's are provided for the Asbestos Contractor, Inspector and Management Planner original courses by the University of North Texas which jointly issues the certificates.
GEBCO courses are approved by the American Board of Industrial Hygiene (ABIH) to qualify as maintenance points for Industrial Hygienists.  ABIH allows 1.0 CM (certification maintenance) point for each 8 hours of training.  Your course certificate will verify course completion.

ELIGIBILITY FOR LICENSING: Persons taking courses in order to apply for an asbestos license in Texas should carefully review education and/or experience requirements that may be applicable. Individuals not eligible for employment in the United States will not be licensed or registered by the Texas Department of State Health Services.
